detailed description:
Process Acupressure is a body/mind/soul modality that works with the whole person to further health, well-being and soul-centered development. It is based on the idea that the body, mind and soul are fundamentally linked--and that the state of one has an effect on the state of the others.
This perspective, that all parts of a human being, and nature itself, are connected and dependent on each other, can be traced back thousands of years. The Chinese mapped out energy pathways (meridians) throughout the body around 4,000 years ago. They have been using them as a health reference ever since. This was done by stimulating points located along the meridians or in the chakras, the energy centers of the body defined by the ancient Indians. Their healthcare approaches worked to harmonize the energy systems of the body. Process Acupressure uses this ancient knowledge, combined with contemporary psychological and spiritual understanding, to promote health and self-responsibility for wellness.
Typically, a PA session takes from 1 to 1 1/2 hours. The client lies fully clothed on a massage table while the practitioner applies gentle pressure to your acupoints. Normally the session has several phases:
- As a state of relaxation ensues, the client may become aware of issues within the body and/or consciousness.
- As the session progresses, the client may go into a deeper state of awareness, beneath surface tension, to access clarity or guidance about the issues at hand.
- Finally, integration and completion of the process occur as the session is closed by chakra balancing and grounding.
Process Acupressure and Basic Acupressure can address many common physical symptoms, including back problems, headaches, respiratory, digestive and systemic problems as well as colds, flu, allergies and healing from injuries.
Through many years of research, over 100 specific acupressure protocols were developed to provide therapy for all parts of the body and many specific conditions. PA is especially helpful with stress-related conditions, including post-traumatic stress. It is not appropriate for severe medical problems or psychosis and does not supplant medical care.
Process Acupressure also helps promote better health and renewed energy by actively involving you in your own healing and growth processes. It teaches you to become more aware of your body and your "process"--that is, your particular history, style and patterns of thinking, feeling, behavior, health and illness. It teaches you how to respect and follow this process as your own unique path to health and growth. You will more readily recognize the subtle things you do to foster, or suppress, the natural growth process. You can learn new ways to help yourself and how to change those patterns that are not working.
Nagging" pain, "controlled" tension, "pentup" frustration, "repressed" emotions - we may spend so much time resisting "negative" feelings that we become afraid of feeling at all. Now there is a simple, gentle technique - Jin Shin Do® - that offers a practical way of dealing with daily stress. Because it addresses both physical and emotional tension and pain, this "Bodymind Acupressure™" technique is rapidly gaining acceptance around the world.
Jin Shin Do® contrasts with acupuncture in the absence of needles, and because one individual is touched by another in a highly supportive way which evokes the feeling of being held, cradled and safe. It contrasts with Shiatsu in being a more slow & shy paced method and focusing more on deep release of muscular armoring.
